Rail Good Deal
The Werdenfelser Land, an area bordered, roughly, by Geltendorf in the north, Mittenwald in the south, Füssen in the west and Kochel in the east, offers some of Bavaria’s most magnificent views and miles of prime hiking trails. Since August this spectacular area has become even more accessible thanks to Deutsche Bahn’s new Werdenfels-Ticket. Joining the Bayern-Ticket and the Schönes-Wochende-Ticket as part of Deutsche Bahn’s excellent economical regional rail incentives, the € 9 ticket gives one adult a day of unlimited travel throughout the region. Children and grandchildren up to age 14 and the family dog can join in the adventure at no additional cost. Valid on regional trains and busses as well as on a few private bus lines and the Zugspitze rail line, the ticket can also be used to travel to Tyrol, from Reutte to Pfronten Ried. (Keep in mind, however, that it cannot be used for travel exclusively within Austria.) The Werdenfels-Ticket, which is available wherever Deutsche Bahn tickets are sold, is valid from Mon. to Fri. from 9 am to 3 am the following day and all day on weekends and holidays.
