Space Odyssey 2003
A recent survey in Britain proved conclusively what many of us have known for a long time: that for city-dwellers trying to find a parking space is a major stress factor. What a relief then that in Munich, at least, hunting down that elusive space may soon be a thing of the past. For the last four years BMW and the Technische Universität, Munich, have developed a traffic management project that allows car drivers to get up-to-the-minute information on parking around the city via the internet and handhelds. Log on to
www.parkinfo-muenchen.de and find out which street, car park and park-and-ride locations have spaces. The site will also give you information on parking fees, alternative routes and public transport. You can even plan your parking in advance by looking at the parking forecast.
