Rays of Hope
Sun, sun, sun! Environmentally friendly solar energy will be celebrated beginning Friday, May 9, at 10 am on Marienplatz. See a solar shower and a solar-powered race car, which are just a few of the many examples of the utilization of this sunny technology. The theme of alternative energy will be explored over three days, concluding on Sunday, May 11, at the Bauzentrum der Landeshauptstadt München. There will be discussions on converting solar energy to heat and electricity, presentations on how to plan and install solar panels and events relating to this natural energy source, including a photo exhibition on the famous solar-powered car race in Australia, the “World Solar Challenge.” The Bauzentrum is located at Theresienhöhe 15 in the Kongresshalle of the old Messegelände, just behind the statue of Bavaria at the Theresienwiese, and can be reached from the Schwanthalerhöhe underground station by taking bus 62 or 66 to Theresienhöhe or by walking 10 minutes from the U-Bahn station. Admission to all events is free of charge. For additional information call (089) 505 085 or visit
