Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark
Why not act on Shakespeare’s advice to “Take a music bath,” under the stars? “And you will find,” continues the bard, “that it is to the soul what the water-bath is to the body.” On June 28 and 29, Odeonsplatz will play host to the third annual
Klassik am Odeonsplatz, which drew over 16,000 visitors last year. This year’s event will feature the world-renowned Bavarian Radio Symphonic Orchestra conducted by Mstislav Rostropovich—considered to be one of the most talented and inspiring musicians of the 20th-century—in an evening of Tchaikovsky on Saturday. And on Sunday, the chief conductor of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra and art director of the New York Met, James Levine, will conduct works by Paul Hindemith, Igor Stravinsky and Carl Maria von Weber. Tickets for this open-air festival for music lovers range from
€ 20 to € 57 and are available from München Ticket by calling (089) 54 81 81 81, faxing (089) 54 81 81 54 or visiting
