No O-zone
If the glorious weather that heralded the arrival of this year’s summer continues, then the residents of Munich will be especially grateful for the “relatively” smog-free days on August 2 and 3, when the city celebrates the first of two annual car-free weekends on the Leopold- and Ludwigstrasse. These two connecting roads will be closed to traffic between Münchner Freiheit and Schellingstrasse from 4 pm on Saturday 2, until 8 pm on the Sunday 3. During that time the cars will be replaced by booths selling food and craft objects, live music and a program of entertainment for children. The theme of this year’s streetlife-festival, as it is better known, is Art and Culture, and in case you are away over that particular weekend the other car-free weekend will be held in September.
