Un-cowed
When, in the 1950s, Bavarian Georg Hollweger began swapping the cows in his shed for motorcycles, some of his neighbors in Ruhpolding probably thought “Schorsch” was losing his grip on reality. However, his enthusiasm for these two-wheelers continued unabated and soon friends were offering him their old motorcycles. Now, more than 50 years later, his collection of vintage models numbers 76 and his cowshed has become a museum and an attraction that draws visitors from far and wide. The exhibits include bikes by NSU, BMW, Norton Zündapp and Horex. If you are an avid motorcycle fan or simply wish to visit one of the most unusual museums in Germany, the “Schnauferl-Stall” is located at Bacherwinkl 5, Ruhpolding, and is open daily from 9 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 5 pm.
