November 2003

Chapter and Verse

Munich has traditionally been a place for writers from England and America to visit; D.H. Lawrence, Katherine Mansfield and T. S. Eliot were here in the early part of the last century (see feature Letter Heads in MUNICH FOUND February 2003 issue), and today many published authors of English prose and poetry have made the Bavarian capital their home, like novelist Persia Walker and poet Philip Sealey. Munich Writers (www.munichwriters.de) was established in its present form in 1997 as a base for English- language writers to meet fortnightly to discuss work in progress. Once a year they bring out their journal of new writing, “Another Country” and the € 5 entrance fee to the reading on November 13 includes a copy of the journal. It is also available at the English bookshop Words’ Worth and O’Leary’s Irish Shop. The meeting begins at 7 pm and is in the Church Hall, Altkatholische Kirche, Blumenstrasse.
