Buying time
It’s a perennial problem: how to shop for Christmas presents without having your children in tow and—even if the gifts are not for them—not end up screaming and shouting in overcrowded and overheated stores.
This year there are two possible solutions to this dilemma. As every year, the child-minding service Münchner Kindl, conveniently
located just around the corner from the Rathaus, at Burgstasse 6, has
a special Christmas program, guaranteed to keep children between the ages of 18 months and 10 years entertained, with cookie baking sessions, story telling and handicrafts. The price per hour is € 4.50, € 3 for siblings. Opening hours are weekdays
9 am to 6 pm and Saturdays 10 am to 4 pm (until 6 pm on long Saturdays). For more information call (089) 24 23 16 00, or visit
www.muenchnerkindlgruppe.de. Alternatively, parents can “park” their children at the amazeum, Museumsinsel 1, where youngsters can take part in juggling courses, watch films, visit the Planetarium or simply play
and read. A four-hour session costs € 25 and the age group is five to ten years.
Tickets can be bought in advance at amazeum. Dates and further information can
be found under
www.amazeum.de or by calling (089) 21 12 51 76.
