February 2004
Senior Cameramen
Although the cut-off age for applying to film school in Munich is 30, there is now another chance to strut your cinematic stuff if you’re double that age. Ironically it is the Children and Youth Film Center of Germany that organizes the annual national video competition for people over 50. “Video der Generationen 2004” accepts video submissions from youths and seniors alike. The theme of the festival this year is “Secrets,” but the subject of the video is up to you. Winners will share € 4,000 in prizes and get a chance to have their video screened at the National Film, Video and Multimedia Festival in Dresden. The deadline for submissions is February 15,
so dust off that video camera that was previously used only for birthdays and summer vacations, and join the ranks of Steven Spielberg, Robert Altman and Martin Scorsese, who are all well past 50. For more information visit
