But instead of logging onto Amazon, why not try the English Booksale at the Familienzentrum in Haar, which is being held on Friday, October 15. Don’t miss the art exhibition currently in the foyer of the European Patent Office, Bayerstrasse 34. The works on display, which include paintings, ceramics, sculpture and jewelry, have been created by European Patent Office employees and their families, and are also available to buy. The exhibition, which has grown in popularity since the first one of

Munich’s always been a mecca for tourists—but it’s getting even more popular. Figures from the Tourist Office show the number of non-German visitors increased by 13.7 percent in the first half of the year, to 1.5 million people. The most notable increases were in visits by the Chinese (up by more than 50 percent on last year), Russians (an increase of more than 30 percent), Arabs (up by 29 percent), Americans (up by approx 20 percent) and Japanese (up 17 percent), with the average visitor staying two days.
