On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the death of Gustav Mahler, a Munich exhibition will illuminate the composer's close relationship to the city and give evidence of the musician's remarkable genius. Under the motto "Ein Zeitgenosse der Zukunft" (A Contemporary of the Future) a team of Mahler-experts has compiled more than 500 objects that illustrate the visionary force of Mahler as a composer, conductor and theater director. Highlights of the exhibition are a video installation by Claudia Rohrmoser and a handwritten score of Mahler's Symphony No. 8, which celebrated its world premiere in Munich in 1910. A special treat for English visitors is an English-language audio collage with interviews of renowned contemporary conductors, who tell of their personal experiences with the sublime work of Mahler.
