University of Television and Film
Munich's renowned film school has moved from its remote premises in the Giesing district to a new home adjacent to the Alte Pinakothek.
Especially constructed to house the Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen (HFF; University of Television and Film), the new building on Gabelsbergerstrasse completes the southern part of the museum district in Maxvorstadt. Hopefully, the university's students will be inspired by their central location as much as many were in there former home. Alumni of the HFF include Roland Emmerich and Wim Wenders.
The new home of the university will be officially inaugurated by the Bavarian Prime Minister, Horst Seehofer, on September 15. Apart from the film school, the basement will also accommodate the Collection of Egyptian Art. It is expected, though, that it will take two more years until the museum will move from its current location in the Hofgarten arcades. For more information on both institutions, visit
