Street Life and Home Stories
June 1–September 11:
Private art collector Ingvild Goetz will open her archive and lend her spectacular stock of contemporary photography to Villa Stuck.
Ingvild Goetz it seems currently takes her mission to make her acquisitions public pretty seriously. Not only her own museum—the Goetz Collection—regularly presents parts of her broad art archives, but also the Haus der Kunst has agreed to display Goetz's exciting range of video installations for the next couple of years. Now, another cultural institution, the Villa Stuck museum, will dedicate an exhibition to photographs acquired by the art collector. "Street Life and Home Stories" will comprise images oscillating between public city life and privacy at home. Among the represented photographers will be Nan Goldin, Cindy Sherman, Wolfgang Tilmans and William Eggleston. With such a relevant range of artists, Ingvild Goetz doubtlessly makes a great contribution to turning Munich into an international center for contemporary art.
