The origins of this bar go back to the late 1990s when two locals started a literary salon in their apartment on Blumenstrasse. The salon was such a success that the organizers soon started to throw literary parties throughout the city, the proceeds of which they reinvested in establishing a small publishing house: the Blumenbar Verlag. Since then, the publishing house has made itself a name in the national literary scene and has moved to Berlin recently. A bar of the same name, however, has remained in Munich and entertains twenty-to-thirty-year-olds looking for some beers and electronic lounge music.
